Jackson got his start in the Minneapolis music scene playing guitar for rock ‘n’ roll band The Goondas. During that time, he continued to write and play the quieter, moodier songs that make up his current setlist. The style is both personal and minimalist, drawing inspiration from long-dead blues and folk legends, as well as contemporaries like Charlie Parr.
